If you are planning to buy the latest DSLR with video, and you are having a hard time deciding between the Nikon D90 and Canon T1i, then this spec-comparison article might help you. Here are the major differences between the two DSLR giants:
The Canon T1i has higher ISO boost capability
The Nikon D90 has lesser ISO boost capability than the Canon T1i, so it looks like that the latter is the clear winner in this aspect. Here is the catch: While the Canon T1i’s 12,800 is good in terms of marketing, it yields poor results in reality.
The Canon T1i has better resolution sensor
The Canon T1i has a 15.1MP sensor, whereas the Nikon D90 has a 12.3MP sensor. But there are several disadvantages with higher resolution sensors. For one, you will want to invest in a high-end quality lens to back the sensor’s increased resolution capability.
The Canon T1i has better HD video recording capability
In terms of HD video shooting Canon T1i’s feature is better than the D-Movie mode of the Nikon D90. Canon designed its latest camera to support HD movie recording. The camera offers the option of 720p HD video shooting at 30 frames per second, with up to 18 minutes of recording time.
Noise and shooting rate
The Nikon D90 enables you to capture decisive moments more easily. It has a 4.5 fps continuous shooting rate (compared to the Canon T1i’s 3.4 fps). In addition, it also has a quieter shutter mechanism, so there is less noise when you take photos using the Nikon D90.
Kit lens
The Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55mm VR zoom provides excellent performance and grat image quality. On the other hand, the Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS zoom tends to be more subject to lens flare. Moreover, it looks like that the Canon kit lens does not look sharp.
